This coin, embedded in the footpath I walk on most days, reminds me of a moment in time a few years ago…
I was in the heart of Melbourne sitting in a Max Brenners, enjoying the company of two brilliant friends and the exorbitance of chocolate deliciousness (!), when something landed on my head. Thinking it was a bug, I did a miniature freak-out dance as I attempted to swipe / flick whatever was on my head, off.
“Ah, Cath? Was that—“ one of my friends started, but was interrupted by raucous laughter from behind the counter and a barista moving towards me holding a $20 note.
“Ah, I’m pretty sure this belongs to you now,” he laughed. “Hahaha, never seen something like that before! It flew through the door and landed right on your head, but I’m pretty sure you thought it was a bug or something—hahaha—classic! Here ya go! Hahaha!”
“Haha, Cath!” my friend said. “I thought it was money, but then I thought ‘noooo waaaay!’”
I can still remember what the Spirit of God spoke with me about in that moment: “Your Father in Heaven can provide for you and for others in ways you and they cannot yet even comprehend. Causing money to land on your head is the least of the amazing ways He provides. There is love without measure. Peace beyond understanding. Joy beyond the complexity of every single circumstance. Allow His heart and His provision to manifest in your world beyond the limitations of how you think they should manifest.”
So, today as I walked the footpath and saw the coin embedded in it, I was reminded not of prosperity or of money, but of the amazing loving heart of my Heavenly Father and the way He can produce such beautiful “and suddenlies” in our worlds.
“Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them. They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit…” Acts 2:2-4
“My thoughts about mercy are not like your thoughts, and my ways are different from yours. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so my ways and my thoughts are higher than yours.” Isaiah 55:8–9 TPT
